Stars: Sad Robots EP- Album Review

Posted over 3 years ago

Sad Robots is the new EP from Montreal indie popsters Stars.

The songs in the collection definitely live up to their space aged name. Ranging from vocal distortion ("Maintenance Hall, 4 a.m.") to electronic beats ("Undertow") there is a technological feel to the music that you normally don't get on a Stars record.

Amy Millan's delicate vocals and the lushness of the arrangements ensure that the elegance of the band's music remains intact.

The most intriguing tracks are the live "Going, Going, Gone" and the french "Sad Robot".

Sad Robots really illustrates what an EP should be. It's an opportunity for an artist to step away from their comfort zone. Stars do that well on this set.

Best tracks: "Undertow", "Going, Going, Gone"
