Check Out DJ Quik & Kurupt

It takes a lot for me to actually get up and go to a hip hop show. I love rap music, but I'm also fond of my health and I've seen too many people get beat down and/or shot so I tend to keep my distance unless it's an artist I absolutely LOVE.

Enter DJ Quik & Kurupt.

Saw these guys in concert this summer in Frisco and loved it. Two west coast legends known for 90s gangsta rap come together in 2009 to make a feel good album for partying and kickin it. This album Blaqkout was slept on so much... didn't get much radio play... got limited coverage in the blogosphere. Then I turn around and notice that DJ Quik & Kurupt didn't have a single post dedicated to them on MOG..

I couldn't let that ride.

Hey Playa (Moroccan Blues) - Fun Fact: DJ Quik was watching the TV show "Bizarre Foods w/ Andrew Zimmern" on the travel channel. There was a local house musician in a restuarant playing something... DJ Quik contacted the show and the musican and sampled his stuff for this track.

Fuck Y'all - Yeah, this is a feel good album but this is the only track that goes against the grain. This is for those days when you're frustrated and you just wanna lash out.... Needless to say I play this the most.
