After seeing these two red carpet pictures from the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards last night, I started thinking of all the other ridiculous jewelry I've seen over the years. The first two snapshots are from last night, the photos that follow that comprise an all-star list spanning the last 5-10 years.

The photo below is Yung Joc and his infamous Hustlenomics chain.

Here is Lil Jon & his guiness book of world records holding "Crunk Aint Dead" chain.

T-Pain takes the comedic route with a big ass chain. He only seemed to wear his in public for a few weeks before it disappeared from view. Maybe he got rid of it... or maybe he just wears it for special occasions. It MAY be too gaudy to wear daily, just a hunch.

Ghostface Killah with the dinnerplate chain and the golden eagle on his wrist. This happens to be my personal favorite.

I originally thought this was Gucci Mane rocking an encrusted version of a cereal box, but apparently its just some local guy trying to make a name for himself.

Soulja Boy Tellem with an iced out Lambourghini race car on his neck. The RC controlled car is fully functional.

Plies liked his album cover so much, he got a bejewled replica to wear around his neck, check out the two photos below.

I think its safe to say Noreaga is a fan of newports, check out the cigarette box hanging from his chain. The picture below that shows the box in detail. Stereotypes be damned!
Side Note: Doesn't NORE look pregnant? I guess his jeweled Newport box didn't include the surgeon general's warning on the sides. It could harm the baby.

Petey Pablo with a golden Pinky & The Brain chain. Petey hasn't had a hit record in about 6 years so this chain may or may not still exist.

Sean Kingston givng Crayola some free advertisement.

Rick Ross with a mini Ross....

Yung Berg likes Transformers.... apparently alot of people like Transformers because the picture below is of a guy who stole the chain from Berg and decided to show it off on the internet.

Last but not least.... the originator. Slick Rick The Ruler.

That frosted flakes chain just shot to the top of my Christmas list!
I'm looking forward to the traveling museum show of all this stuff in 2012. ;-) But, seriously, somebody should get on it and put that together.
Thanks Frosty. This totally made my evening.
I could have gone with out seeing that picture of the Biz!
If I don't get my own Pinky & The Brain chain I WILL BE VERY UPSET!
that was great. i'm with you on ghostdini starks. i love that eagle. throw in some rza rings and you've got some serious power.
you should see their after-dinner wear....
How does Ghostface get into clubs wearing an eagle like that?
"I originally thought this was Gucci Mane rocking an encrusted version of a cereal box, but apparently its just some local guy trying to make a name for himself."
Thats actually "Lil Boosie" might wanna fix that
LOL, see this? D.O.A.!
Slick Rick and Ghost can pull this kinda stuff off. Everybody else just looks ridiculous.
Its all silly, and majority I am sure is all fake.
Slick Rick and Flavor Flav originated it. Mostly as parody, and now its sort of some strange fetish/braggart/fashion thing. Mostly its just impractical, tacky and extremely over done.
But I am a 40 year old white guy, what do I know...
