Panic at the Disco Break Up; Fangirls Everywhere Cry
-
Artist:
How’s this for unexpected—Panic at the Disco has broken up. Supposedly. Maybe. All signs point to legit, in that the news was broken to the world via two separate blogs posted on both their myspace and official website, but who knows these days? We’re not exactly their number one groupie, but who even knew there was trouble in paradise? According to the first post, bassist Jon Walker and guitarist/lyricist Ryan Ross are leaving the band “to embark on a musical excursion of their own. Though the four of us have made music together in the past, we’ve creatively evolved in different directions which has compromised what each of us want to personally achieve.”
Then, only hours later, a second blog was posted, this time by the other two members of the band, drummer Spencer Smith and vocalist/pianist Brendon Urie, confirming the news of the split and saying that “individual tastes take friends in different directions and you can't ignore it.” They went on to add that established tour plans with Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy will continue as scheduled. Ending with a “Pay attention we have a surprise in store for you,” the entire deal seems sort of… out of the blue and highly sketchy.
So what say you, PopSense? Is this for real? Can you hear the cries of a thousand fangirls already? Do you even care? Whatever “musical excursion” Walker and Ross embark on should be interesting to hear, but what about the remains of Panic at the Disco? Here’s to hoping this turn of events doesn’t cause them to lose it and sound completely unfortunate. -Melissa Schrettner
