Album:
Ingrid Michaelson, has followed up her successful album, Girls and Boys, with another pleasant record, Be OK. Michaelson is known for her simple, yet soothing, and honest pop friendly ballads.
The album doesn't blow one away in creativity or musicality, but makes up for it with a delightful voice and a pure consistency that is not usually matched. You never will hear more than a few instruments, most times being a single guitar or piano with her solo voice. This means there might not be the fullest sound of combining various elements, but it does feel like she might be in the room singing next to you. And depending on your mood, this could be exactly what you're looking for.
While this record offers some solid tracks, I wish the album was longer and had more original tracks. Of the new record's 11 tracks, 1 is an acoustic repeat of the title track 'Be OK', 1 is a remake of her hit song, 'The Way I Am' off of Girls and Boys, and two covers. The covers of 'Over the Rainbow,' and 'Can't Help Falling in Love' are quite good, and if you disagree, at least adds to the feel and flow of the record.
Jason Mraz has performed with Michaelson on the track that I will post titled, 'You and I,' but the recorded version appears to be a different male artist not attributed on the album. But the video will appear below as well.
You can also find a more detailed description of one of my favorite track's at my personal mix tape blog here .
