Kill It Kid / Acoustic Session

Posted 5 months ago

Bath's imposing Guildhall indoor market is a rather handy microcosm of the city itself. Gaggles of poncho-wearing tourists fight for browsing space with emancipated students, well-to-do housewives and the occasional down-and-out in need of shelter and a nice bit of company. Amidst the old-fashioned sweet shops, bohemian jewellery stands and the collection of odd-but-agreeable stall owners sits the Market Cafe, a simple but much-loved space serving the best grub this side of the Quantocks.

A couple of Saturday's back, FDM.com and Bath's very own Kill It Kid ventured forth to the Market Cafe to record the latest Travellin' Light acoustic session. With the simplest of guidelines to adhere to - one take, quirkiest location around - Kill It Kid arrived with an assortment of instruments, introduced themselves to a few confused-looking stall owners, quickly set-up and readied themselves to commence the second edition of The Travellin' Light Sessions.

Below is how they got on. As you can see... it's utterly jaw-dropping. A rollicking stomp through live favourite 'My Lips Won't Be Kept Clean' that froths with adolescent verve (and some old-school nerves). It sways from ragtime folk to nu-generation bluegrass and it has Bath's Guildhall stomping its collective foot and rattling its loose change in time. Hell, people even felt the need for a spot of flash-photography come the end...
