Fairport Convention Uber Alles

Posted about 1 year ago

Uber alles, above all.   interesting postscript the us navy uses that as their slogan "above all"  could they be Nazi sympathizers lol

Haha, no they're not German, but "uber alles" relates the the first line of the Deutschlandleid (national anthem).  I studied German for close to seven years, so it's a title I just thought of off the top of my head.  It's still the national anthem, but that phrase has been criticized because Germans don't like to come off as overly nationalistic, for obvious reasons.

As far as folk goes, my current favorites are:

    Alexander Skip Spence
    John Fahey
    The Incredible String Band
    Espers

You'll like these guys if you like Fairport Convention, though Skip Spence and ISB can be challenging at times.

All right thanks I'm gonna check these out.. I know a fahey family who owns a hip pub in my town I bet their related do you know history about him.

I mean this public house has folk written all over it last Friday I saw a one man band guitar harmonica and vocals...   So that name at least to me and a few others around here is synonymous with music

    thanks for the knowledge
