Yarn: Empty Pockets

Yarn is in every sense a home-made band, that brings the great wide open to your door-step. Based in Brooklyn and fronted by main songwriter Blake Christiana their album Empty Pockets bridges the gap - if there is one - between bluegrass and more upbeat Americana. Christiana is best known from his electronic jam band Blake & The Family Dog . What started out as a side-project has blossomed into a real band, a quintet that is rooted in alternative country and old school country string band records.

Empty Pockets is filled with guest appearances. To name a few: Caitlin Cary adding vocals and fiddle to 5 Guitars , Edi Brickell on vocals for I'm Down , banjo virtuoso Tony Trischka and Casey Driessen on fiddle. You don't expect this kind of music to come out of NYC. but then again - it's a big city for with room for every kind of music on the planet.
