AmpLive, Zion I, Jamie Lidell and Public Enemy = ?

Californian DJ AmpLive which you may very well know already from his remix album of Radiohead 's In Rainbows , called Rainydayz , is now up for some more action.

Together with emcee Zumbi he is the hip hop act Zion I and theyz b bout 2 release a new album in January next year, called The Takeover. I hope it'll be a real takeover because this teaser track has been a gateway into the awesome alternative hip hop world that is Zion I . The Rebel is a Public Enemy cover (enlightened people will know the original was called Rebel Without A Pause) and is off the mix tape The Search And The Seizure. Yea, mix tape, not mixtape! We're talking authentic physical 80's reference stuff here! Reportedly, the A-side will be stuffed with covers and re-renditions of hip hop classics while the B-side with stuff ranging from indie rock to electro . Fortunately, for us who won't get hold of this attention-craving tape and don't really see the charm in an actual tape form, they will release the mix online later this month to support the buzz around the forthcoming album.

Another goodie was thrown my way and it's an official Jamie Lidell remix by the two beforementioned hiphopsters. AmpLive makes great use of Jamie 's rough vintage soul vocals and Zumbi also delivers a few lines that aren't too bad for the track either. A definite recommendation right now!
