Brian_wilson_that_lucky_old_sun MUSIC NEWS - A new DVD entitled That Lucky Old Sun from from Beach Boy, Brian Wilson will be released on January 27, 2009 from Capitol Records. The new dvd is the companion piece to Wilson's critically-acclaimed That Lucky Old Sun album , released September 2, 2008 on CD, vinyl and digitally. The DVD is to feature more than two and a half hours of material, including a full-length live performance of the album, a new feature-length documentary and additional behind-the-scenes footage from the album's recording sessions, and several of Wilson's recently filmed promotional performances and interviews. The new That Lucky Old Sun DVD (order here ) features a full-length performance of Wilson's latest album, filmed live at Capitol Studios on May 19, 2008 in 5.1 Surround and 2.0 Stereo audio, as well as a new feature-length film, Going Home , directed and edited by George Dougherty, which documents the making of the album and Wilson's return to his original record label, Capitol Records.

The DVD's bonus feature (all listed below) will include track-by-track audio commentary by Wilson and Scott Bennett, his That Lucky Old Sun songwriting partner and band member, for the live Capitol Studios performance, behind-the-scenes footage from the album's recording sessions, and recent promotional interviews and performances by Wilson for Yahoo! Music, MySpace and "Black Cab Sessions."

The dawning of a new California morning for Brian Wilson, That Lucky Old Sun continues the awe-inspiring concept album journey that he first began four decades ago. Wilson's songwriting, arranging and producing talents came together in harmonious glory for The Beach Boys' 1966 classic, Pet Sounds, and have evolved during his solo career, highlighted by his 2004 critically acclaimed Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE . Lyrically and in Wilson's incomparably lush, evocative arrangements, That Lucky Old Sun adds a new chapter to Wilson's concept presentations. Pitchfork Media's album review rates Wilson's That Lucky Old Sun as "his finest non-Smile album since the golden age of the Beach Boys," and adds, "That Lucky Old Sun neatly closes the circle he began drawing in 1961 with the single 'Surfin',' returning him to an idealized Southern California..."

After several nominations, Wilson won a well-deserved Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance (2004) for "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" and he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. Last December, he was honored as a leading cultural icon by The Kennedy Center Honors with Diana Ross, Martin Scorsese, Steve Martin and Leon Fleisher in Washington, DC.

In other Wilson news , The GRAMMY Museum, which opens December 6 in LA, will debut its "An Evening With" signature public program with Brian Wilson on January 15. Wilson will be interviewed onstage by the Museum's Executive Director, Robert Santelli, before performing a few songs for an intimate audience of 200 people.
