"Chinese Democracy" Leak Blogger has Charges Reduced

Music News - Kevin Cogill, theUS bloggerwho, as previously reported, uploaded nine songs from the much anticipated Guns 'N Roses album 'Chinese Democracy' (official release date is 11/23/08) to his blog in June '08, and is facing a criminal charge as a result, has had that charge reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. The maximum jail term Cogill could now face, if convicted, is one year, versus five. Cogill's attorney, David Kaloyanides, said prosecutors "decided that a misdemeanor was more appropriate."Next Tuesday, authorities and Kaloyanides are expected todecide ona trial date. However, "A deal may be in the offing," he said. Back in June, Cogill uploadednine of the 14 songs from the unreleased Guns n` Roses album to his blog; "Chinese Democracy," "Better," "The Blues," "Madagascar," "There was a Time," "IRS," "Rhiad and the Bedouins," "Prostitute" and "If the World." He recently entered a Not Guiltypleaon the charges. No word from Guns n Roses or their mgmt on the news.
