MUSIC NEWS - The first season of his internationally acclaimed music tv series; Spectacle: Elvis Costello with... gets a digital download release, with the dvd and Blu Ray release coming November 3, 2009 ! The acclaimed show is now available for download exclusively on the iTunes Store.
We loved the show on it's original airing and found Spectacle did a marvelous job of blending the best of talk and music television and created a compelling, fly-on-the-wall perspective on the creative process with an extraordinary and eclectic array of guests joining host Elvis Costello to chat, perform and share their passion for all kinds of music, from rock to opera.
Some of the guests included were: Sir Elton John, Tony Bennett, Lou Reed, Julian Schnabel, The Police, Smokey Robinson, Diana Krall, Herbie Hancock, Jakob Dylan, Jenny Lewis, She & Him (Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward), Rufus Wainwright, Renee Fleming, Kris Kristofferson, Rosanne Cash, Norah Jones, John Mellencamp, James Taylor and even former U.S. President Bill Clinton, whose conversation with Costello about the meaning of music in his life is unprecedented and compelling.
The program (13 one hour episodes) was originally broadcast on the Sundance Channel in the USA (and CTV in Canada) and is jam-packed with insightful interviews and once-in-a-lifetime performances, including numerous spontaneous collaborations between the host and his guests, from “Me and Bobby McGee” with Kris Kristofferson, Norah Jones, Rosanne Cash and John Mellencamp to “A Perfect Day” with Lou Reed to a “mash-up” of “Watching the Detectives” and “Walking on the Moon” with Elvis, his band and all three members of The Police (who were in town for the final concert on the "reunion" tour and whose appearance on Spectacle was their final performance and interview together on television).
As part of the launch , iTunes is offering an exclusive free download of one of Spectacle's many amazing musical performances – Elton John and Diana Krall's duet on Elton's “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word”. This piece was taken from a special episode of Spectacle in which one of the show's executive producers, Elton John actually guest-hosted and interviewed Ms. Krall.
Spectacle: Elvis Costello with... is available for $1.99 per episode in standard definition and $2.99 per episode in high definition. The complete season is available for $24.99 in standard definition and $36.99 in high definition.
