TENACIOUS D Replaces Beastie Boys at SF's Outside Lands Fest

     MUSIC NEWS - Outside Land Festival organizers today announced that Tenacious D will fill in for the Beastie Boys in Sunday night headlining slot.   The rain-or-shine event, scheduled for August 28 thru30 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, will feature 60+ performers on six stages.  Artist line up includes Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Modest Mouse, Incubus and Black Eyed Peas (full performer list below).

Jack Black, Tenacious D frontman today said about the gig; "It's a thrill and an honor and we're going to close it out" . "I just want to say one thing: If there are any dogs barking on the day of August 30 before we go on, don't be alarmed. That's just them sensing the earthquake of rock that's coming."

The Beastie Boys cancelled their tour plans recently due to Adam "MCA" Yauch's medical condition (cancerous tumor on his left salivary gland).   In an e-mail to BB fans yesterday, Yauch said he's recovering from surgery and is preparing to undergo radiation treatment in a few weeks.  The band also has indefinitely delayed the release of their new, "Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1" album,  their eighth studio set.

"The Pick of Destiny," Tenacious D's second album was released in 2006.
