ROGER DALTRY of The WHO Fame Returns to the Road

MUSIC NEWS - ROGER DALTRY, lead singer for the classic Brit rockers The Who, has announced a solo tour of North Amercia, his first in almost 25 years! The tour starts off up in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is due to visit almost 30 cities before wrapping up at the end of November (full itinerary below). Daltry has christened the tour the "Use It or Lose It Tour," poking fun at the importance of keep his voice in shape (and maybe his age) while details for next Who tour are sorted out.

He said; "I thought it'd be nice to play smaller, more intimate venues." "I look forward to getting back to that. I want to give people a good night out. The economic situation being what it is these days, I think that's what they want: to go out and feel they've had a good jolly-up."

Expect to hear a mix of Who music ("but they'll be my versions of them," Daltrey announced), solo material, which will included tunes he's never played live, and covers that "pay tribute to his influenes and admired contemporaries," according to a press release. "I think I have one of those unique, recognizable rock voices," Daltry said. "Even in a Who show, there's enormous range, but this show will give me an even greater opportunity to explore."

Peforming with Daltrey will be guitarist/back-up singer Simon Townshend, guitarist/musical director Frank Simes, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button and drummer Scott Devours. More news on the tour, including details about pre-sale tickets and VIP packages, are at TheWho.com.
