WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Slumberland Turns 20!...Q+A with Pants Yell!

Posted about 1 month ago
Hailing from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Pants Yell! are the latest addition to the Slumberland stable of bands. Listening to the tunes they have it they've already put out it seems like a great fit, but we're really excited for their debut album Received Pronunciation. Like everyone else being profiled this week they'll be performing at the Slumberland Records 20th Anniversary party at The Bell House on Saturday! (tickets) Here's what they had to say about joining the ranks over at Slumberland Records.

PTST: We're celebrating the 20th anniversary of Slumberland Records, how does it feel to be part of the new regime of bands that have taken the label to a new height of popularity within the last few years?
Andrew Churchman: It's still flattering and an honor that Mike would go out of his way to release our music. Amazing to be on a label we so highly admire and has such a strong roster.

PTST: Were you guys big fans of Slumberland before signing to the label?
Andrew Churchman: Absolutely. If you asked me 12 years ago as a 15 year old teenager what my favorite record label was, I would have said Slumberland

PTST: What are your top 5 favorite Slumberland records ever?
Andrew Churchman: 1. Aislers Set - The Last Match
2. Boyracer - We are Made of the Same Wood
3. the Ropers - All the Time
4. Hood - Cabled Linear Traction
5. Lilys - In the Presence of Nothing

PTST: What are you guys currently working on?
Andrew Churchman: Preparing for our Slumberland debut to be released and a short East Coast tour. Working on some possible European dates in the spring. Oh yeah, we’ll be breaking up sometime next year…

PTST: How has Slumberland help you get to where you are now?
Andrew Churchman: Giving us Ropers songs to rip off.

PTST: Do you have a favorite Slumberland band past & present?
Andrew Churchman: Such a tough question. Past - Small Factory / the Ropers
Present - Pains of Being Pure at Heart / Liechtenstein

PTST: What's the best part of having been invited to play one of Slumberland's 20th Anniversary shows?
Andrew Churchman: Celebrating the anniversary as a part of the Slumberland family. Also, sharing a bill with and getting to see so many great bands two nights in a row.

PTST: If you were to get the record label a gift for it's anniversary what would you give it?
Andrew Churchman: Customized Slumberland shipping tape. How cool would that be? http://www.stickers4u.com/packaging_tape.htm
