All Of George's Beatles Songs In 74m
From The Boat's Sept, '07 archives.
REUPPED When CD burners first hit the shelves, my very first project was this... pulling all of George Harrison's compositions as a Beatle together onto one disc. I'm a big fan of George's psychedelic years (1966 to 1968, "Love You To" to "The Inner Light") but there are plenty of stellar Harrison moments to enjoy - from his simple, 1961 introduction, "Cry For A Shadow" (a co-write with Lennon), to his full blown commercial awakening in 1969 ("Something," "Here Comes The Sun"). Instead of release dates, the sequencing is loosely based on when Harrison first took these songs into the studio, so you can hear George's progression from year to year. It's the only way the raging psychedelia released on Yellow Submarine appears before The Beatles' stripped down approach for The White Album, as it should. "Only A Northern Song" was actually George's initial contribution to Sgt. Pepper's, while "I Me Mine" was the last official "Beatles" recording session. With John vacationing, George, Paul & Ringo recorded it to finish off the lingering Let It Be album in January, 1970. The Beatles would split up only months later. Sort of cover art included. Upgraded source material. (@320)
