WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

sunday night live :: basia bulat

Posted about 1 year ago

we've declaimed our affection for basia bulat 's open-throated folk songs on several occasions past. in case you missed all that, though, and still haven't given her a fair listen, you've a chance here to make amends. because this week's episode of our sunday night live series features a terrific set from basia and her band broadcast by radio 3 in canada, during which she opens, as is custom, with a lovely & humbling a capella song ("hush") and then runs through a goodly portion of her excellent debut album oh my darling . (all that's missing, really, is a little bit of sam cooke & a dash of daniel johnston .) you won't want to let this pass you by.

just curious - do you mean proclaimed your affection (or declared...) or have you actually de-claimed your affection for Basia's songs?  if you really have retracted your affection, what was the cause?  the samples here sound pretty amazing.

hi mollifire, thanks for the comment. actually, to declaim doesn't mean to retract a claim, but to recite something. i think if we're speaking technically it means to speak with some measure of pomp & rhetoric, but in this context (and perhaps lazily, i admit) i had that first use in mind.

but thanks again for the questions. cheers.
