heard this - a favorite live version of an all-time favorite song - again recently when it popped up on shuffle play and it began a mini mad dash through through blind melon 's really quite good, and often underrated, back catalogue.

there are a couple of classic blind melon shows in the a.g. archives [ed. note: blind melon, as a band, died with shannon hoon; the new incarnation, for which there are any number of bootlegs available, should, in our estimation, perform under a new moniker], and it was something of a toss up as to which one to feature on sunday night live . as you can see below, we decided on a 1995 show at the palace in hollywood, despite holes in the ideal set list for "i wonder" and "paper scratcher," mainly because of issues around best sound quality.

a last note about this particular performance, before we get to the songs: normally we don't excerpt at such length from officially released cd's (capitol records put this show out in 2006), but the label did such a horrendous job of it - misidentifying the tracks, not clearing artwork with the band, not crediting some of the production - that we feel no remorse about liberating these songs. hopefully you all enjoy them.
