The Bio Channel gets all John Mellencamp-y on us tonight with the premiere of "Homeward Bound" wherein the small town boy heads to his stomping ground of Seymour, Indiana to talk about his life and music before capping off the show with an "intimate" concert. The show starts at 9:00 p.m. EST and is preceded by a one-hour Biography of the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.
Meanwhile, John's latest figures- highly- on Rolling Stone's list of the 50 Albums of the Year . But the countdown is a tad light on country.
TV on the Radio's "Dear Science" tops the list, followed by Dylan's "Tell Tale Signs- The Bootleg Series Vol. 8."
John's "Life, Death, Love, and Freedom" comes in at #5. Lucinda Williams' "Little Honey" lands at #18, while Jamey Johnson's "The Lonesome Song" figures at #32.
And, yo, kids: Taylor Swift's "Fearless" is at #39 on the list.
Don't Call Him Lonesome: Rolling Stone isn't alone is singing Jamey's praises...The Tampa Calling music blog sez he "Just Might Save Country Music." How? His "lived-in lyrics and the shackled-but-ever-present demons in his voice place the song on par with the best by fellow and former Nashville rebels Waylon, Willie, Hag and Cash."
Plus, We Learn the Feminine Term for Cuckold: From a deal-hickey called Your Tango , more on Shania Twain's American (She lives in Switzerland) holiday with the ex-husband of the woman who may have broke up her marriage. Plus a coda on Kenny Chesney's love-life .
