Big Daddy Kane - King Asiatic '86-'92

Posted about 1 year ago
Nobody with any signs of sanity would disagree that Kane is one of the greatest rappers of all time. For wordplay, flows, versatility, style and presence he is in a league of extraordinary rap gentlemen. Kane was responsible for some of the dopest anthems of Hip Hop's golden age. Unfortunately he never dropped an all out classic album during those years.

'Long Live The Kane' was cool, but it wasn't a classic. I remember being disappointed when It dropped. The 'Raw' remix wasn't as Raw as the original, 'Set It Off' had a better remix off the album, as did 'I'll Take You There'. I preferred the first version of the 'Somethin' Funky' beat and then of course there was the obligatory lame love track. 'It's A Big Daddy Thing' had four classic joints and a whole lot of posturing. I never understood why they put the 'Wrath Of Kane live version' on the cd. The original track is a piece of musical magic. I'm not sure why it wasn't a US A-Side 12" or why the original version never made it to an album.

There has been a few Kane 'best of' cds out, none of them I have found totally satisfying, so I concocted this mix over a couple of afternoons. It features all the classics, the remix's and freestyles...
