Good news! Even when he's at his most, um, idiosyncratic, years removed from his most groundbreaking work, I'm endlessly fascinated by his music
Yes... one of my favorite bands, Dr. Dog, is always being compared to him.. not saying they do it intentionally or otherwise, but, they take it as a real compliment to have listeners compare them to him in any way. I don't think they do it intentionally, but, their sound has that old/comforting feel to it. With all of the wayward bands today, I guess they may feel comfort in the old classics/geniuses who make it all happen?
Nice to hear that he is "still standing".
