WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Mad Ones Podcast #12 - Music I'm Only Recently Getting Into, But Should Have Dug Long Ago...

Posted about 1 month ago

It's been a while since I've contributed anything to the Mad Ones, let alone a full podcast episode. For this I am sorry, but I do have a quasi-legitimate excuse. Over the past couple of weeks, I've been consumed with a personally procured assignment: to finally "get into" several of those bands and artists that everybody says you HAVE to dig deep. Having been a closed-minded political punk snob throughout my entire high school music listening career, many great acts that some consider to be seminal listening from the early part of this decade escaped by apparently pre-disposed ears. So, recently, instead of scouring the back pages of the blogosphere for great new music, I've been searching the iPod's and music libraries of trusted sources to get some much need exposure to some of the greatest contemporary music with which I am relatively unfamiliar. As a result, I've come up with a podcast featuring a brief sampling of a few bands and individual artists that I must regretfully admit I have only recently been exposed to in depth. Here it is, The Mad Ones Podcast Episode Twelve: Music I'm Only Recently Getting Into, but Should Have Dug Long Ago...

Postcards From Italy - Beirut
New Partner - Bonnie 'Prince' Billy
The Blankets Were the Stairs - Sunny Day Real Estate
The Place Where We Lived - Hayden
Psalms 40:2 - The Mountain Goats
