You can't go back to Constantinople, but Franz Ferdinand kindly request that you meet them in Istanbul on "Lucid Dreams", the new Mediterranean-geography-obsessed song currently streaming on the Scottish group's website for the price of an e-mail address. "Why don't you come along?" Alex Kapranos croons, surely terrifying our John Birch Society readers with the message that there aren't really nations except in our dreams. It's also sort of a love song. On first listen, "Lucid Dreams" is a bit rowdier than a lot of the band's previous fare, with some glam-rock swagger and a fist-pumping, football-game-ready rhythm similar to that of their biggest U.S. hit-- which makes sense, as this one's reportedly scheduled to appear in Madden NFL 09. Unfortunately, the only songs about lucidity I can appreciate are silent.

Stream:> Franz Ferdinand: "Lucid Dreams" (you'll be asked to provide your e-mail address to hear the full song, but you can opt out of appearing on their mailing list)
