Country singer, songwriter and guitarist, and sometime actor, Jerry Reed passed away today due to complications from emphysema.

He was most well known for performing "Eastbound and Down," the theme song from the Burt Reynolds outlaw film 'Smokey and the Bandit ,' one of the movies in which he also starred.

He was 71 years old.
