[MP3] The Moondoggies: " 'ol Blackbird " / "Undertaker"

Artist:
There are certain bands that certain people recommend to you in a way that can only be described as eagerly anticipatory. I find myself guilty (most of the time) for becoming extremely excited about things and conveying that inward joy in a handful of fine words and phrases. Stemming from the melting pot of music, more commonly associated with being the emerald gem of the Pacific Northwest - Seattle - my confident Sarah Q. has turned me onto a nice new act. They're the culmination of an interesting recipe, handfuls of a regional rock sound scattered across a spectrum that ranges from bluesy rock to folk-tinged Americana. Here's a brief description of the sound you're likely to hear from the following tracks; one of which aurally reminds me Josh Ritter is from Idaho and Kurt Cobain is from Washington.. the Pacific Northwest brews lush noises from their lush, cold jungles .
Comprised of a handful of Seattle whippersnappers, The Moondoggies have spent the last few years slowly crafting a bevy of songs that exude warm three-part harmonies, gothic Rhodes organ, and wanderlust guitar. They are a serious band with a silly name, building up slow-burning American music with heavy hooks and an easy demeanor. This past spring, they plucked the best cuts, shined 'em up a bit, and compiled them into a stellar debut record, "Don't Be A Stranger".
