Unapologetic... There, I Said It

If they wanted me to say "YES", they should've never have taught me the word "NO". When I was younger, I desired to be liked by people so I'd go out of my way just to make the next man or woman feel a bit more comfortable and sometimes it would be at my inconvenience. I can remember when I wasn't big on sharing MY things with people because those material objects belonged to me and that's all the consideration that I give to that particular matter BUT as I learned, though that isn't the best way to be, being stingy isn't always a bad thing.
AND WHY IS THAT?
Some people want to be involved in everything, to the point of wearing out their welcome and then you have some individuals who continuously ask you for things as if you're their personal assistant. I think being the "GO TO GUY" contributed to a lot of my early downfalls. Playing the role of the "good guy" often led people to think of me as "baby butt soft" because I didn't have a chip on my shoulder whenever people asked me for help. I guess I have an issue with the word "NO" sometimes I hate to say it and most of the time I hate to hear it. I never wanted to be viewed as foul but there are instances where putting your foot down is the only way to a point across. People are quick to try and make you feel BAD over your decision, and if they're desperate enough you better prepare yourself for a guilt trip.
CAN I LIVE?
Nobody wait you do for certain people, they'll never be satisfied but you have to remind yourself that it's not your job to serve and protect. At the end of the day, you have to be your own comrade and be mindful of your interests, even it if means having the word selfish added to your list of adjectives. These days I'm fairly secretive when it comes to my business plans because the more that they become public knowledge, each of those ideas will lose a peg or two in the originality department. I just wish that I could say no to people without feeling like I did something wrong, but in the industry that I'm headed into, a pair of steel balls and rigid backbone are some of the bare necessities when people demand more than they supply.
NO is the new YES
