Keane's latest album, Perfect Symmetry (itunes ) (amazon ), quietly slipped onto the music scene awhile back and it hasn't really had an overwhelming impact. In fact I listened to it a good five or six times before it finally started to stick in my head. And I think that's because I was focusing on all the things that this album isn't; this isn't stadium ready, anthem filled, power pop/rock in the vein of Snow Patrol, Coldplay, or U2. In all reality that isn't what Keane is. Yes they've given us a few soaring melodies in the past, but the core of Keane isn't in those songs. Keane is a band that's best heard in long quiet moments where the music can sink into your head and heart.

Once I realized what this album really is I appreciated it so much more. This is a perfect, unblemished, Keane album. The music, the lyrics, and the melodies are unapologetically one hundred percent Keane. Once you realize these three mates put together eleven solid songs, and you realize they're not reaching for places that they didn't really belong, you'll understand that Perfect Symmetry is the perfect album for Keane.

Hmmm... i don;t know where to begin. i was fan of this trio when their debut came out. i hadnt heard anything off the latest till this post and i was surprised. "spiraling" -- frontman (who i always thought was annoying) sounded like a knock off of Brandon Flowers and i dont remmeber ever saying that about this band. as for the music... they use to have a lot of sappy atmospheric songs and this track was a complete 180.
i really like their latest album. it takes awhile to catch on, but then it's almost irresistable.
