If you haven't heard my displeasure of Fabolous's last album you would know that I hated it because it was just a bunch of radio ready hits that compiled onto a cd. Remember the old Fab. The one that spelled his name. The one who took beats from nobody producers and made fire. Fabolous and Lil' Mo was the duo back then. After my displeasure of “From Nothing into Something” I had great expectations for “Loso's Way” especially when the mixtape by the same name was so dope. Can Fabolous live up to the Def Jam expectations and override his Def Jam failure.
Lyrics 7- The lyrics weren't all that great from F-A-B-O. I didn't receive all the punchlines that I had come to listening to. To tell the truth I felt like I didn't hear Fabolous. I felt like I heard a mix of Lloyd Banks, Jay-Z, and a southern artist. This was not that smooth talking dude from Brooklyn. There are no memorable lyrics, and it seems like he can only rhyme Loso with know so. I feel like he took a couple steps back lyrically. There are also too many features. You guys know how I feel about this. An album should show off your skills, not the skills of 50 other people. It's not as bad as “From Nothing into Something”, but it's the same exact thing that failed him the first time. He has 16 features, for a 17 track album. That's almost one other person each song. They didn't bring much too the album. The only feature that I appreciate was Marsha's and Keri Hilson. Everyone else can really get off. He might have had a better score. Beats 7- Beats are average at best also. Radio ready beats that are nothing special. I like the beats from Alc and Khalil (west coast representing on the album). Syience gets it in to on “Stay”, but come on Fab. Jermaine Dupri? You're label mates with Kanye! At least get Just Blaze to do a beat. “Breathe” was dope! Fab is definitely leaving his roots. When Jermaine Dupri is the lead producer with three tracks, you are doing something wrong. I don't see Jermaine as a great producer at all. Unless you want a radio hit. Sounds like Fabolous just wants to get money. Oh, the Runners have the best beat with “My Time” if I might add, but it gets overshadowed by wack beats like “Throw It in the Bag”. This song only has a piano and drums. A little kid can make this beat. Sad if you ask me.Concept 5- The concept of “Loso's Way” was a complete FAIL. I was expecting something like an American Gangster where Loso would take concepts from “Carlito's Way” and make a song with it, or putting some Carlito's Way sound clips. Something! He did nothing. There's nothing on this album that fits the gangster concept of the album. “Loso's Way” goes only by name. That's it. Bunch of radio ready songs compiled together to make a 17 track album. The more I write, the more I'm reminded by “From Nothing into Something.” I wish I could write more about the concept, but there is none. The songs are about how he's dope and love. That's it. Oh, my bad there's a song about him being a father. smhDope Tracks4. My Time feat Jeremih Produced by The Runners- The beat is too dope. Fabolous's time metaphors are pretty good and Jeremih complements the song very well. The makings of a good song.13. Stay feat Marsha Ambrosius Produced by Syience- Marsha kills it. No other way to say it. Can a R&B singer Renagade a rapper? Not So Much TracksIf it's not on top of this... then it's wack. Conclusion: Sorry, but here's another failure by Fabolous. Thank you for giving the lowest rated album that I have reviewed. If you haven't download the mixtape. It's so much better.Verdict: 6/10
