KXT-FM's First Morning Progress Report
-
Artist:
Just looking at the morning's playlist thus far from our brand new indie radio station on their first morning of broadcasting it is already being made clear that KXT isn't going to be held back by the strict formatting or directives from stuffy corporate music bigwigs in New York that hold back nearly every other over the air radio outlet in this city.Beyond just playing indie acts like Devendra Banhart, they're also playing the classics (Joe Jackson, Pixies, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison), more country-twinged fair (Langhorne Slim, Rhett Miller), and tons of locals to boot (Telegraph Canyon, Chomsky, Happy Bullets, Little Black Dress). It's almost as if KXT has taken Jack-FM's philosophy of "playing what we want," only they're exhibiting that so far, they have far superior taste.
Too early to call them the best station in town? Perhaps, but of course we've been right before.
