Get your country star memorabilia...at the library?
-
Artist:
The list reads like a who's who of country music...Garth Brooks, Keith Anderson, Suzy Boggus, Kix Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Terri Clark, Charlie Daniels, Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Darius Rucker. But this isn't a list to some huge country event - nope - these are just a few of the stars who have donated autographed CDs and other memorabilia to the Waterloo Public Library for Canadian Library Month and Ontario Public Library Week.
The promotion is called Country Musicians Rock and Read for Kids. A bunch of country stars were contacted and asked what their favorite book was. The plan was that the information would be used to help promote literacy. Well there was such a positive and huge response that it was decided to think bigger.
Now over 50 singers have donated items to make gift bags. Each artist will have a Waterloo Public Library bag which will contain their donated item along with their favorite book. The bags will then be auctioned off on October 24th to raise money for literacy projects.
This is such a great project. Unfortunately they don't have photos yet of the donated items or what each singer's favorite book is, but you can visit here and get signed up for updates.
