Country singer arrested - everyone surprised it's not Mindy

Douglas Jackson Brooks, 52, was arrested by Panama City Beach Police last night at a beach condo.  The name may not mean much to you, but maybe his country name of Doug Stone rings a bell.

Stone was arrested for alleged domestic battery against his 22-year-old son, Dustin Brooks.

When Police arrived at the residence, they were told by security guards that Stone was found on the floor with his son in a headlock.

Police say the son was was attacked after he began badgering his father about wrecking a car earlier and being intoxicated.  Stone allegedly ran over a curb and blew out a tire in his vehicle.

Cops believe Stone was drunk, but since they didn't see him behind the wheel, they couldn't book him for drinking and driving. 

Stone's son pressed charges and so police arrested Stone on one count of Domestic Battery.

Doug Stone's probably best known for his song “I’d be Better Off (In a Pine Box),” and has had 22 singles on the charts, four of which have hit #1.  He also starred in the 1995 Disney movie, “Gordy.”
