More Copywrite Woes For Coldplay

Just when Coldplay thought it was safe to get back in the water, the jaws of another copywrite infringement claim are clamping down upon them. This time it’s over their video for “Strawberry Swing” (pretty cool, by the way), which looks a little bit too much like Andy J Gallagher’s “Something Else” for some people.

First of all, Is the style a music video is in really intellectual property? I sure as hell don’t think so. Art is stolen or re-interpreted everywhere all the time. In fact, I’m sure you could name me 10 bands off the top of your head that blatantly sound like someone else. What makes this video so special that someone else can’t use the same idea? And that is under the assumption, that Coldplay or the video director (who most likely is to blame, because I doubt Coldplay is coming up with treatments) saw the original video in the first place. Or who knows, maybe Coldplay spends their morning having a cup of tea and making lists of people to pilfer. Check out both videos below and you can make up your own mind.
