WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Final gig review of 2007

Posted about 1 year ago
Well this year, I've seen (discounting festivals), such bands asChemical Brothers, Editors, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Richard Hawley, VNV Nation, Miles Hunt, Seasick Steve and InterpolI've seen them each a few times each this year - a bit repetitive but was really struggling to get fired up about some of the new acts out there.So... my final review. Was an early start, the tunes were pretty standard and, therefore, the crowd could join in. The acoustics were pretty poor though to be honest. The tracks included: Silent Night In The Deep Midwinter Jingle Bells Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer We Wish You A Merry ChristmasAll in, the kids carol concert was cool - needless to say, my daughters ROCKED!Have a TOP Christmas... Brit I will see you after work, bring beers.Pip... get sorting those tunes... and y'all... a grand 2008.

  1. Pip says I work in a school and our kids were so impressive in the carol concert that they were invited to cheer up some patients in the local hospital. I'm still working on the best of 2007 which has become a hard slog. I have been tempted at times to change all the rules (My 'Brilliant' series only allows two songs per artist on each CD) and allow Radiohead to have their entire 'In Rainbows' album as my 'Brilliant 2007'. I'm not criticising the rest of the music world here but 'In Rainbows' is, in my opinion, on another level from everything else I have heard this year. But no, I will stick to the rules, but it is highly likely that Radiohead will have the Pip Awards of Best Album and probably Best Song of 2007. Have a good Christmas!
