Like Editors? Joy Division? The Chameleons? A bit of The Cure?I've never been to Alexandra Palace before, so wasn't sure what to expect of Ally Pally. I'd seen Interpol tour their second Album (Antics) at Bristol Carling Academy supported by Secret Machines... so I knew what to expect of them. When you consider another New York band (The Strokes) had a dire second and third album and, from personal experience I can tell you they are chronic live, it's great to experience Interpol. They sang tracks from Turn On The Bright Lights as well as Antics including "Next Exit", "Slow Hands", "Roland", "Public Pervert", "Obstacle #1", "NYC", "Not Even Jail", "The New", "Narc", "Length of Love", "Evil", and "C'Mere". The crowd reacted well to all of these, as you would expect. But the tracks from the new Album, Our Love to Admire felt like standards already - these included "Wrecking Ball", "The Scale", "Rest My Chemistry", "Pioneer To The Falls", "Mammoth", the relative quiet of "The Lighthouse", "The Heinrich Maneuver", "All Fired Up" and the latest single, "No I In Threesome"A great New York band? Hell yes.And in typical New York style, Carlos D (bass) lays down his guitar at the end... and puts on his manbag before leaving the stage... class! The setlist 8/10, the band 9/10, the venue 9/10.... the knobheads in the crowd who were pissed, stoned or whizzing... and could only shout 'Rosemary'.... those tossers get 1/10.I have all kinds of tracks that were worth putting on here including Slow Hands, Evil or Obstacle #1 (one of the encore tracks) but I thought a track of the new album would make you wanna go listen to more of their stuff.
