Ani Difranco at Liberty Hall

Sorry, I'm not much for updating right now. I'm working 60 hours a week. I've been traveling a lot (including another trip this weekend). Soon after I get back, I start a new job (with slightly more normal hours). I just don't have a lot of energy for other things right now.Jesse Harris was a disappointment last night. I had high hopes for the man who wrote “Don’t Know Why” (made famous by Norah Jones). I don’t know why I did (no pun intended). He strikes me as a good songwriter, but he’s not a good performer. He never really engaged the audience. After a few songs, the audience gave up on him and started talking….loudly. He didn’t stand a chance.Ani was good. First off, it was the best I’ve ever seen her look. I hate to use the cliche that she was glowing, but she was. The setlist was good. For a welcome change, it wasn’t very heavy on the new (boring) material. The setlist was actually varied – the audience response was loudest to the older material. The band really added new life to some of the older songs. The talk last night focused on her pregnancy and politics (vote democrat). The show only clocked in at 90 minutes (which is typical for her), but it was a solid 90 minutes.
