New York Voices Update

NYV's collaboration with Paquito D'Rivera on the Brazilian Dreams album is a new highlight in their illustrious career. They've also toured with D'Rivera and those concerts have been electrifying. Special mention has to go to Jay Ashby, Kim Nazarian's husband, who has also toured with them adding his amazing mastery of the trombone along with some percussion.

You can't really appreciate New York Voices without having their individual solo efforts in your library. Darmon Meader's And So Am I is pure listening pleasure but Lauren, Peter and Kim all have solo recordings and each offers a terrific insight to their individual talents. Just search Amazon.com for each of them and their offerings. And if you love Brazilian Dreams you may just want to acquire some other D'Rivera recordings. Jay Ashby is on a few of those and I wish he had one or more CDs of just his work.

The only thing better than listening to New York Voices is seeing them in concert. Make an effort if they're ever near you.
