The Augie March concert I went to last week was fabulous. Unfortunately I missed the support acts, who were David Ford and Jolie Holland. Jolie Holland seemed sorta interesting though from what I heard on the web, interesting jazzy voice, wish I'd seen her now.
Augie March were so together as a band, something that is too scarce in bands that I see, unfortunately. All 5 members of the band had a microphone and sang excellent harmonies, and I'm a sucker for vocal harmonies. They really fill out a song, send shivers down your spine if done right. So what other bands can people recommend with great vocal harmonies (that can do it just as well live as on the CD)? Teenage Fanclub are one of my favourites (obviously taking some influence from Big Star). Iron & Wine and Low as well, simple songs but songs that really suck you in to the melody and harmony of the song.
