WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Concrete Blonde, Texas and Margaritas...

Posted about 1 year ago
It's quite powerful how a particular song can bring on memories like a flood. This was the case today as I was listening to one of my favorite 90's band (albeit short lived) Concrete Blonde. For some reason whenever I hear the song "Joey" I think of hot weather, boot camp and margaritas. Sometimes I can't even remember much at all of when I was 19 and going to basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas. But when I hear certain songs it hits me like a sledge hammer. I remember our Drill Sgt...the one that we were scared to death of a few months before, buying us drinks at the NCO club when we graduated (and me having a fake ID)I remember how hot those Texas nights were and how beautiful the stars looked as I lay on my back after regurgitating about 10 margaritas (my constitution had not yet been built up)But most of all I remember the song Joey being played on the radio that night and how I found some of the lyrics ironic. Here is the acoustic version that some of you might not have heard before...Now where is my margarita shaker??
