hey ya'll,
sorry i've been slacking on the posts over the last month and a half. i'd like to claim it's because i've been busy, but the reality is that the sun recently made its annual appearance here in the northwest and i've been blowing off almost all my responsibilities. woopsy...
the early to mid 60's were a golden age for music here in the pacific northwest. while the Kingsmen, The Wailers and The Sonics are certainly our most widely recognized exports, they don't begin to represent the sheer volume of great music being made during that period.
this is one my favs from that era, performed by Rocky and His Friends and recorded by legendary northwest producer Kearney Barton. if you enjoy this track, should pick up any of the 'Northwest Killers" comps on Norton Records and get yer NW garage on!
Enjoy!

i know what your talking about, washington is warming up. i just put a fan in my room. A FAN !
anyways thanks for the intro.
Shake it up baby surf rock kinda feel to it, fun.
Here in the Northeast we get almost as much rain as y'all do, and it's easy to wrapped around the sunny days lost in between.
Mogging should be fun Ben, not just another "responsibility". Surf the mogos anonymously and lose yourself in other mogger's musical lives...just a thought

On!
thanx that was excellent.
Can't forget "The Ventures"... another Seattle Band who outsold the Beattles 2 to 1 in Japan during the 60's.
That song makes me feel like surfing to "Louie Louie"...
good stuff, there...
too bad that when the sun comes out in central california it's not enjoyable...everyone runs indoors screaming for their air conditioners...
who could blame you there man. sunshiney days are intoxicatingly distracting, especially where you are. although down here in huntsville, alabama, it's definitely a surplus luxury. it's progressed so far now that there's a drought here. i'll trade you, our sunshine for your rain. lol
thanks for the track sample, it's really great stuff; i'm definitely gonna check out some of those comps you're recommending.
oh and btw, you rock man!

i love rocky and his friends. garage punk always has a place in my heart. god bless the pacific northwest.
No need to apologize about enjoying the sun. Is it bad that I can picture the cast of the original Munsters dancing to this music? =o)
Another band to add to my vinyl shopping list. Thanks.
hey ben my names emily
so this is weird but i live in seattle and go to school on cap hill
and i've actually met you once when you were with jenny lewis
but since then i've seen you around broadway and downtown
so i just wanted to say hi
Ohhh (squeal) LOVE IT ! You never fail to impress sir. Will be moving to Portland, OR here in a month, and will be stoppin by Seattle to hear the good tunes whenever I can! Much thanks, much support and I'm glad to hear the sun is poking out there now :)

wow. its already july and you're just getting some sun?
I'm scared of the northwest now. :(
Hehehe. The sun! In the Northwest. I saw it. For a while. Then it rained. Not that i'm complaning. I know what to expect since i've lived here all of my life. :)

I'm a huge fan of DCfC! I wanted to see you on 1st ave. ((I live in the Twin Cities area)) but it was 18 and up. I thought I was going to break down and cry. Kidding. Sorta. I hope some day I can see you play! That's all though. Hah.
Ciao,
Sammeh
is this really ben?
what is going on? i heard some strange ruumblings about the feds taking death cab's music while crossing the border. strange times indeed.
the one time i went to seattle, the weather was nice. i couldn't decide wether i was happy or not.
Hello Mr. Gibbard
I am amazed that I am able to actually write something you may possibly read. I am a relatively new MOGGER . Where to begin....your music means more to me than any other music I listen to. I jam to Rage, I can connect with RHCP and can bounce to Biggie, but yours is different, it is something special. The writing is where the difference is, you are excellent at translating emotions to words and emotions to music. perfectly eloquent.
I have blazed to your music, cried to your music, been happy to your music, loved your music, partied to your music, made love to your music but my favorite fell alseep to your music.
The first time i heard PLANs, I was in a hatch back of an old BMW whippin down the coast of VA, going over a long bridge as the sun was setting and the music was almost painting the picture I was viewing.
I love your music. It was so inspiring i have written my own little poems to it. i would love to show you
Anyways, this might be a little much, but i am trying to convey what the essence of your music means to me. I have had some hard times the past 2 years and your music has always been there for me.
not crazy, just a college bro, that loves his Deathcab

Cheers, and enjoy the rest of your tour!
