hi all,
three or four years ago i bought this record for 3 bucks because the cover was crazy looking. while this tactic usually fails miserably, it was one of less than ten such successes i've have in my record buying career.
Alan Hull was a member of the english folk/rock group Lindisfarne who put out records in the mid-60's to mid-70's. this was his first (and best) solo effort. i re-bought it on CD last year so you should be able to find it relatively easily.
since i can't add two tracks to one post, here's the first...

good stuff my friend. =)
the cover is a painting by rene magritte. funny thing is, i've seen this album sleeve in person at the la county museum of art when they had the magritte exhibit. good stuff.
That's a painting by Rene Magritte. He's pretty cool too.
Cool tracks!
As for the album cover--Ceci n'est pas une nez
you totally have more faith than I do ... I never would've picked up that album just because OF the cover; lo and behold, I enjoyed that song quite a bit!!
again, the MOG has worked it's magic ... opened my ears, and my stuck-up "don't buy an album with an ugly or weird cover" attitude.
gotta love it!!
mike oldfield back at when he played with kevin ayers in the early 70's came to my mind. same guitar sound that in the shooting at the moon album. mike oldfield happened to be an amazing guitar player before tubular bells which is a crap record by all means. good post,
Polythene Pam comes to mind for some reason.
I've bought quite a few albums for their covers. It sounds dumb but I've gotten good stuff this way. I picked up the first Yellow Magic Orchestra this way. Cost me a dollar. Great sounding album. I heard the second track you posted first and was interested. Now I think I'll have to check it out after hearing this track.
Thats a great tune. Fantastic cover. I love it when you make a random purchase based on a feeling or an impulse and you find some gem that you never would have otherwise.
wow... im impressed.
i really enjoyed it verry cattchhy and a good song to get stuck in ya head. Yknow, it doesnt really sound like something from the 60s or 70s - in the good way.
the artwork is pretty crazy too xD
Hey could you email me the song? I think emailing mp3 files is possible... If not I can probably find it on limewire.
Well, thanks for uploading it ;D
this is nice
That really is something you would only see in a dream.strange.
thanks for posting this! i really enjoy it
