...for better or worse. my girlfriend is really sick of me filling dead spaces in conversation with 'ohhhh, lil' girl PSYCHOTIC REACTION!'While this was the only hit the Count Five ever had (a regional one, at that) it has proven to live on thanks to it's inclusion on Lenny Kaye's infamous Nuggets compilation. Those not familiar with Nuggets, i strongly suggest you run out and buy the box set at your local independent record store. toodles!xoben

I remember getting one of those generic "Psychedelic Hits of the 60's" cassettes when I was a kid that had this on it. It was one of my favorite songs on that album — it beat the hell outta "Incense and Peppermints".

Lost in translation (BAD)...
"Yeah Baby" on the "Incense and Peppermint" comment
If it sounds to be too good to be true, it's needs to be reworked....

Two songs in my head right now... Jurassic 5's "Break" and Muse's "Exo-Politics" OMG these two songs are driving my soul around in circles these days...

Not bad for our "putting together a new bookcase" project --- lots of swearing going on right now, so this kind of helps to balance things out.

once i had an icp song stuck in my head for like an entire month. it was all i could do not to throw myself off a building.
ever since then, i've never had quite the same fondness for having songs that you can't stop thinking about.

My wife is into Frank and Dino and Cole Porter but half-way through the first time she heard Count 5 she broke into a big grin and made me play it again. Louder. A great record lasts and lasts! And what a record this is!

In the 80's, when Lenny Kaye's _Nuggets_ LP was out of print, I bought instead all eleven LPs of Rhino's _Nuggets_ series, and there wasn't a bad cut in the bunch.

i have heard that song somewhere before...but i cant put my finger on it. but its catchy, but not catchy enough to get "pile of gold" by The Blow out of my head. it just goes on and on and on...
ps. i saw you on my television screen on sunday. rad shades! :)
andrealivesinWA says
just kidding on the last comment about "shades" not that they werent cool. but about them being shades! because i saw like a split second of you guys, and i swear i thought they were shades. but i just saw a picture of you guys there... and they werent. so my bad. but i do like the *glasses*!

"Cemetary Drive" by my chemical romance is in my head lately, but I have noticed that ever since I got into Death Cab for Cutie...I bounce around on songs from you guys that I constantly listen to..so I guess they're like favorite songs or something.
But it pretty much went like this..."Marching bands of manhattan"..."what sarah said"...."title and registration"...."company calls epilogue"...."stability"...."title song" on we have the facts....."we laugh indoors"..."tiny vessels"..."we looked like giants"...."the president of what"...."the face that launched 1000 shits"...."wait"...and right now it's "This Temporary Life"...that song is like woah.
Good job Ben...you keep on making those amazing songs that end up sticking in peoples' heads...that's got to be rewarding as an artist.

Haha! That's great! I got Death Cab songs in my head and even forced them into my roommates. But it's okay. She allows me to force feed her Death Cab songs especially since the first concert she ever went to was a Death Cab concert with me, haha. She even knows the words to some songs better then I do.
Keep up the great work Ben and thanks for keeping us informed!

I remember finding Count Five on youtube a few months back after seeing them linked to this other cool German 60s rock band called The Monks:

Yeah Ben!
Gotta Love those Nuggets collections. If you get a chance try to hunt down the Pebbles collections. They are very awesome, a bit more of the 60's punk sound. Very Rare indeed and full of lovely gems too.
P.S. I love sites like this, where you can find people who dig what your into as well.
Good on ya! Ben.
P.P.S. Looking forward to a new anything-you-do album, Ben ;)

i now have way too many nuggets tracks (including brasilian ones) illegally downloaded to my itunes to listen to in one sitting. thanks ben. thanks a lot.

wow haha to 'SatisfyiedMind': there is NOTHING worse than having Mickey Avalon stuck in your head.. and nothings more obbsene then blurting out his lyrics in random public places.
My Uncle is a very great record collector. I've just started to learn the business myself, helping him sell at his record shows. I am positive i have actually seen this record cover as I was flipping through a crate at one of these shows in RI. I remember because I took it out, and my good friend Nick almost bought it right then and there.. instead his bought his 5th copy of the Velvet Underground with Nico album... once again, he didnt get the peel off banana.
