I live on the East Coast, not necessarily fertile ground for world music festivals, like the Sierra Neada World Music Festival (SNWMF). Why can't such a venture make its way towards the Atlantic...I can't attest...but I still thought I'd mention some of the lineup.

Headlining this year is none other than Femi Kuti himself, son of the great Fela Kuti.

Joining him are King Sunny Ade, Michael Rose, Anthony B, Sly & Robbie, Zap Mama, Junior Reid, Tarrus Riley, The Heptones, The Abyssinians, Etana, Michigan & Smiley, Ras Michael, Bushman, and on and on and on. Sounds include Jah Shaka and the immortal Stone Love.

Unfortunately, I'll not be attending. But I'll be there in spirit...perhaps a MOGger may find themselves in Mendocino County and write a review...??

In the meantime, I'll be petitioning for lion vibes closer to home...

Here's to Femi... listening to serious afrobeat live is an experience difficult to describe.
