Picked up three new CDs this week, and I thought I'd share my opinions on them.1. Bob Dylan- Modern TimesEasily one of the best CDs I've bought in a long time. Every review you've read that says that this is one of, if not the best, album of the year, is one hundred percent correct. I strongly recommend this album to anyone that likes music at all. The lyrics are great, the music is at top form, and the album is just enthralling. I put it on one day this week when we were experiencing some rain and thunderstorms and the combination of the two made my day. 2. Lupe Fiasco- Food and LiquorThis one of of my most anticipated purchases of the year. Both "Kick, Push" and "I Gotcha" got stuck in my head and wouldn't be flushed out by any amount of punk or metal that I blasted through it. The album is most definetly worthy of all the buzz that has been created around it. It's a solid, but different, hip-hop album from one of the best new MC's out there.3. Mastodon- Blood MountainI started my musical upbringing on metal. My first album was The Real Thing by Faith No More and I've had a certain place in my heart for the fast and heavy ever since. Mastodon definetly filled a void left in my metal collection by bridging the gap between Iron Maiden and the present day. They rip through every song on the album fast, fast, fast and kick your ass every step of the way. Just purely awesome guitar work and lyrics.
