Review of War Tapes' The Continental Divide

Based entirely on the band's name, I was mildly intrigued by the package that came for War Tapes. My first thought was of an Anti-Flag type,
something persistently pounding and completely immersed in political banter.
Couldn't have been much more different. The Continental Divide is split with several punchy, agressive tunes, and many others that would work on any Sandra Bullock film soundtrack (see "Dreaming of You").
Maybe it's my inner agressiveness that's been eeking out for the past couple of days, but once past the blood-pumping songs like "The Night Unfolds," I find The Continental Divide to be too laid back and casual in the way that watching Ellen Degeneres would put any self-respecting man to sleep.
War Tapes does have the same 80s type edge that has recently made it's mark on the musical theatre we call 2009 (White Lies, Hatcham Social). Only here, it's not as endearing as some of the other artists making use of the 80s in their current efforts.
