On June 23, Spin Magazine and Spin.com are releasing Purplish Rain, a nine song tribute/cover album of Prince's Purple Rain.

The release is centered around the 25th anniversary of Prince's classic Movie & album Purple Rain.

Spin has said the entire album will be available free of charge online to "Spin readers and subscribers." While I'm not fully sure what that means yet, they do advise anyone interested in the disc to check Spin.com on June 23 for more details.

Among the artists included on the album are: Riverboat Gamblers ("Let's Go Crazy"), Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings ("Take Me With U"), Fol Chen ("The Beautiful Ones"), Of Montreal ("Computer Blue"), Chairlift ("Darling Nikki"), The Twilight Singers ("When Doves Cry"), Mariachi El Bronx ("I Would Die 4 U"), Craig Werden ("Baby I'm a Star") and Lavender Diamond ("Purple Rain").
