  4. owensdad says "Old And Wise" by the Alan Parsons Project. This is from the 1982 album "Eye In The Sky" and ever since I first heard, I thought to myself "I want this song played at my funeral as a dedication to the friends in my life." Thanks for asking, it's a great question.

  7. Hattie says Chopin's "Funeral March" and "Trouble of the World" by Mahalia Jackson are two songs I'd like to have played at my funeral (in the far, far away and very, very distant future; I mean so far in the future that by then science will have figured out how to revive the dead, and Chopin and Jackson can actually _perform_ at my funeral). To go with the Oz theme, how about "No One Mourns the Wicked" from _Wicked_. Maybe "Everybody Rejoice" from _The Wiz_ because that's the song celebrating the Wicked Witch's death.

  8. awoodyard says Umm....so if they could revive the dead then why wouldn't you just get revived instead of go through the hassle of having a funeral to pick songs for??

  9. BrandNewSumthing says Hmm... I dig the funereal theme. Mine would be "Do You Realize?" by the Flaming Lips. It sounds like a song that should be played at a funeral. Maybe also "Naked As We Came" by Iron and Wine. They're both songs that deal with death in a really chill, peaceful way. And now your answer...?

  11. fistula spume says That song by Moody Blues where the chorus is Cry Cry Cry Cry possibly. Maybe instead of speeches or long winded laments I could make everyone do it karaoke style. I don't know really. Nothing traditional.

  17. UtahSpike says Ok so I actually have the CDR already made up - well its not like I'm morbid but trying to leave written instructions as to where to find the tunes I'd want in my maze of a collection is a little unfair . . . . Everyone enters to Whispering Pines by The Band Lots of deep & meaningful talk about how I was more than a college drop out record store clerk . . . . Some moments of queit reflection aided along by Witchita Line by Glenn Campbell A bit more talk maybe about how I was the best darn lover he ever had and I could never be replaced ( maybe wishful thinking there but hey I'm dead who cares ? ) I go through the curtains and off to the oven to the strains of Ol 55 by Tom Waits There you have it - family flowers only please otherwise donations to a charity I have yet to pick.
