Two Step

Friday night: Way too much free alcohol equaled to a total blackout where my next recollection was waking up in a strange parking lot. Saturday morning: It’s now the final day of SXSW and everyone’s going to Stubbs BBQ at an absolutely free show featuring Digitalism and Chromeo. The hot Austin shade made it seemingly difficult to enjoy the show, however the alcohol consumed from the previous night and a lot of cold water made the heat a little more bearable. The German twosome of Digitalism made being a DJ look easy in the hill country humidity, and blared out dance tracks out for an hour. Afterwards was Chromeo, the Canadian Jewish-Muslim duo completely stole the show from under their predecessors. Jamming out on their leg-laden keyboards, the band rocked out in fashion with their keyboardist (known as P-Thugg) sporting a tribal looking two-piece outfit and utilizing a talk box like none other. The group truly showed the crowd how to make the best of their “fancy footwork” by playing catchy tunes one right after another and ended their set by merging Journey and Dire Straits covers into one finale. Chromeo showed Texas a whole other two-step.
