WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

My all-time favorite album

Posted over 3 years ago
Duran Duran's been my favorite band since childhood, and "Medazzland" is my favorite album of theirs. It's Duran Duran at their least commercial and most experimental, and I love it. Sadly, as of this writing, it's out of print. You can find used copies on places like eBay pretty easily, and it's supposed to get released on iTunes at some point, but I hope it also gets a proper CD rerelease sometime too.www.duranduran.comwww.myspace.com/duranduranwww.myspace.com/medazzaland

  1. champy says Duran Duran for me is like knife throwing. I am really impressed with them, think they have a tremendous amount of talent, but never am moved enough to buy their CD or specifically listen to them-just as, i guess, would never specifally voluteer to hang out at a kife throwing even???this analogy has gotten oout of control

  2. Brett Schieber says I like this cd a lot too, though I'm not sure I would say it's my favorite Duran Duran cd (I love all of them....except Notorious and Astronaut, to be honest). They are my favorite band. One thing that always bothers me about Medazzaland, even though I love the songs, is this - I just don't think it's produced well. There's such a noticable dip in recording quality in this cd than their others. I know they were going for the whole electronica thing that was happening at the time, and that is perfectly in line with their ethos, but....I would have not chosen the thin sounding drum machines and would have made sure that it was mixed a hundred times better than it was. Even with that criticism though, I still love the songs (especially Big Bang Generation and Midnight Sun). In fact, saying anything negative at all about Duran Duran pains me and feels wrong....but, hey, it's just my opinion - I could be wrong!
