My Silly Dreams

Posted over 5 years ago
Well, thanks again everyone for the nice words. My sister's always been the singer in the family, she's the one that took lessons, and I've always been surrounded by these boys that were musicians, and I've always sort of just been the writer who was interested in finding out about good music, not the performer. It was just a hobby that I did quiet, in my room. So, yes, it's just easy to find insecurities about the music endeavor. I made a new song & a new site for the experimental stuff, here:http://www.myspace.com/bitterbeautifulboom.It's the "Perfectly Imperfect" one. I think it's interesting, because it started out with a dark, brooding beat in the back, and I took it out and it was this a'capella thing that I want to say reminds me of Mirah, but I don't know, I don't know, I didn't have her in mind, I was just singing putting percussive sounds everywhere. I don't know. It's not like, amazing or anything, it was just interesting, to try, I guess. This is my current myspace music site which I was more hesitant to dish because it's just a silly personal site:http://www.myspace.com/maybemarthasaninfo.Anyhow, enough of that.Today I was listening to the Beat Happening box set.I love the sincerity that sort of indiepop, is it? Right, their indiepop, not indie rock.Because from a technical standpoint, and even the initial sound, a cold heart could tear it apart and tell you how awful it truly isas a product. But the reason it reasonates (nonintentional alliteration) continuous is because of the sincerity. If the delivery of the band was something haughty and arrogant, you might not enjoy half of their tracksand half, because underneath the horrible,it sounds like there is definitely some sort of melodic intu....ition, I guess. Anyhow, I love listening to Beat Happening. All full of nostolgia. And then the other day I was really digging some of The Shaggs. That argument of genius or joke or idot savant, I'm just going to say they were obviously some sort of sincere to step out into the world with the stuff they did.Sincerity.Am I spelling sincerity right? I'm out of it today, too much stuff going on.So, this is the music on my list, sort of digging through my head and influencing me. I also took another peek at Pablo Honey, and I have an assessment on that album (not necessarily anything profound, just personally relevant) that I'm not ready to write down, but it was cool to just take another look at those roots again.Oh, also, I've been listening to some Excepter. I really can't say I know *their* influences, so I don't want to call them out of this world exceptionally original, but I love what they do with chaos, and finding a heartbeat within the body of multiple and potentially grating noises.
