WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

This post is way too long (for me to proof.)

Mog, my friend.I need to nurture you. What you really should have done was caught me six months ago when I didn't have an unfunctioning computer or car stereo. February was the nice pinnicle for me, a bit culmination for establishing my views on...music. I think now I'm a little burnt out & overwhelmed by the amount of music I acquired and have yet to sort through. Stacks of plastic cases clutter the edges of my bed, some half full and other cases bulging all around the clothes and acquired shoes.Over several folders of unsorted pop tracks on my broken laptop.Tracks from bloggers that have much more time & attention and dedication to the discovery of all things music, much more of this than myself. So a miniscule bit, MOG sort of reminds me of all the organizational work and repairing of things I have to do. So. as an avid procrastinator, I'm inclined to avoid all that begs me to work hard.Plus, once I start musing over tunes, I get stuck in the rhythm of words as well as the song pallet itself, and to get me out this intangible box takes an hour or two of browsing and perusing and following the lead of the subjects that stroll along my thought path."Somehow* I reach the consensus on what might settle my sensesor how to quell the current that subject overdwelling in my latent mind. But not before staying up way too late.Right now I munch on my newfound chewtoy:Dried California Navel Oranges."Breakfast Time, Breakfast Time - Orange Juice":http://home.comcast.net/~audgz/OJ-BT.mp3.[mp3, right click, open in new window.]Trader Joe's has never loved me quite so well. There is nothing like a nibble that is appeasing in appearace and lovely to the taste buds. And so, in consideration of the song realm,my first inclination was to capture the essence of the orange in visualand then compliment the sticky stale of this dried fruit with similarly hued music."Neon Orange Glimmer Song" - Mountain GoatsBut the only rule of 'getting the right shot' that I have retained in my shortness memory (I don't have one of those genius abilities to memorize things like what sort of Scottish bands make up that eccentric '76 genre(thus, the decline of any "independent" cred I may have (or will possibly) acquire(d) was (will be) rapid.)Digress.)is the rule that too much flash smatters the photograph.I don't know anything about focal point or else of creating a stage for the correct sort of light. So, my oranges, though okay looking by way of the okay-in-picture-taking-but-can't-zoom-cameraare quite the unprofessional spreads.(and prior, equally non-pro art friend sticking her hand in my groggy face.)A bug on my bed!!!!eeIt twas black and not quite small and I bit my lip and my head began to sweat butI grabbed the nearest napkin and cornered the creepy that wasattempting to weave betwixt/een and probably lay bug eggs around my now (and for how long?) tainted blanket.Tainted by fleeting bug feet. all bustling and black gunk and yuck.EHW.And for the moment I had a title-flash of the Seely song that has nothing to do with my just happened traumatic attempt to make the bug die."Bugles" - Seely.Serene, though. Letting the panic calm some. Though much before the band I'm about to mention - and Seely probably held in higher regard - the beginning of the song is relevant those Autolux tracks - "A Capital Kind of Strain" + "Asleep at the Trigger." Running string plucks and all drum bumblies. But hey, yo - where's the bugle toneage? But what I'd really like to recall is that track from Annie's Kicks' Mix:"Just let me be your ladybug24 hours a day I'll give you love.":http://home.comcast.net/~audgz/Bee-Bug.mp3[mp3, right click, open in new window.]Even though it was not any sort lady. It was just the horrible storm of a yucky filthy bug that one must quash against the wallbut since it is in a blanket, the bug still is too much cushioned to flatten well.So I grabbed a spoonand scooped it with napkin atop into my cereal bowl (okay, really my room isn't THAT much the mess)and here, in this porcelain penthe blanket-invader met its notably not-PETA approved death.(And just to be sure, I drowned the black smatter (along with napkin) in the toilet.)This is too much of an adventure for music MOG. I should not try to integrate my personal life in this thing.Okay.And sinceI have already disordered this postlet it get all saturated with the factor of ataxia -- limber and nimbly and fumbling every which way, not really having any sort of established or distinct point, soit's okay if I do one more the random."For Abednego" - Exit Clov.I always somehow find myself promoting this band. (Maybe it's because they're from around my area.) Even though I wrote them off at first as amateur sounding 'don't-know-how-to-write-a-song's. I mean, first time I saw them live, they were fine performers. But since the song structures seemed, in this show, to be only 'almost there', the sole appeal of this band really seemed to be the every-man's asian-fetish tiny twins.Well, this was the feeling of first show I saw.But I kept happening to see them play. And every time I listened to them, their 'independent still-finding their sound'-ness grew on me a little bit more. Their sound, it seemed to show a consistent improvement. I began to notice those harmonic hooks. At first they don't seem like much, they were not stark harmonies. just subtle stretches (apparently) strategically placed inside the tune. But I found myself humming along. Then attempting the out-of-key croon. and then wanting to hear the songs again. again. and again. And then the last show I'm totally grooving to their music, there's reggae basslines between the atmosphere and even some disco thrown in. And I'm like.yo.I like this.I should really give this band their own post, but whenever I say that, I never get around to the mention. because sometimes music is just so in the moment. You know? And I have a server to upload the track, but I can't seem to get it to cooperate with me right now. So. I will also direct you to their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/exitclovThere, should be "MK Ultra," with is initially possibly annoying/not special but ultimately always catchy and surrounded by multiple riffages. mm. catchy to me.And "Beast Simone."And recommended to buy is their Starfish EP.Alright, well, bug-interrupted, I didn't cover what I had intended to. and diverged (unarmed) into some weird wood. But not as caustically as Frost. and probably hardly fashionably. but, as is my usual - sloppy. silly. slightly inane. shrug.and.wired update for the weekall done.
